What now?

I was asked to lead a group of Mid-Single Adults in Davis County. MidSingles are single adults ages 31-45 years old, some were never married, some divorcees, and some widows/widowers. Everyone has different life stories, but the one thing that we all had in common, was that we are all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In my calling-assignment to lead them- I was able to get to know a ton of people, and know their stories. There were a few common threads- life hadn't turned out how they had planned, disappointments, and what now? I'm not saying that their disappointments or frustrations were displayed in how they lived. In fact, about 60% of them were great examples of how to live happy. I felt privileged to be a person that they trusted to open up to. One of my responsibilities, was to plan conferences for the MidSingles. Usually a conference would be a Thursday night at the temple, a Friday night activity, Saturday...

Lessons Learned in Quarantine

I've been meaning to blog a number of times throughout this quarantine. What are we, about six weeks in? Such a crazy time in our lives! I remember sitting in my office talking about the Coronavirus that was somewhere far away and seeing the world shutting down there, thinking it was not going to happen here. Then Rudy Gobert was diagnosed with it and everything fell apart. I keep saying I'm fine with this whole situation but I sure don't sleep as well as I used to before all of this started. So, somewhere deep inside I'm not okay with all of it. Literally, I wasn't taking things that serious until my phone kept getting notifications with changes to Church procedures. Once the letter from the First Presidency came out saying that they want to make sure that people receive the Sacrament once a month, that's when it all sunk in. And when they closed the temples. ...Trust...

I said in my last post that I would talk about trust later. Does anyone else struggle with trust like I do? It's probably one of those lessons that I need to learn the most. I was telling my friends from work a funny story that happened to me a week or so ago. I love sharing stories of the embarrassing, funny, surprising, whatever situations that occur in my life, if it can bring a smile to someone's face or lighten someone's mood. One of my nephews loudly commented about how he'd never seen me run in his "entire life" and that I "walk WAY faster" than I run. He was laughing so hard! The dog pulled me when we were walking and I went awkwardly flying forward trying to stop him. It just happened to be in front of someone that at one point I would have liked to impress rather than look like a dork in front of! I was dying!
